The future?

My plans for this project do not stop here...I'd like to continue in other locations, and display these modes of communication in their originals space, as well as let them speak across locations. Please feel free to give input on any of the aspects of this idea. Where do you want it to go?

Locations of Project:

Swope Park: pavilion

Mill Creek Park: bench
39th and Troost: Bus Depot
Loose Park: bench
39th and Main: bus stop
Kansas City Art Institute: Cafe Nerman
UMKC Art Department
Brookside Coffee

Welcome

This a project that is being done by a student at the Kansas City Art Institute. The goal of this project is to simply spark moments in everyday life where creativity can be channeled. The audience for this work is not only the institution, but anyone in our community. Hopefully this can be one place where stereotypes, expectations, and rules can be broken. Feel free to express yourself with these boxes and this site, anonymously or not.

Mill Creek Park bench

Name one thing you've always wished you could do. "Always be there for my family financially."

This rose was left in the box by a man named Chad. He saw me picking up the box and let me know that he and his friends left it and thought the project was very "beautiful."

Brookside Coffee

When I came to check on this location the box was missing...but thankfully the manager simply did not want it on their sign ledge (sorry if this was a hindrance)

39th and Main bus stop

Unfortunately the camera from this site was not there when I picked up the box, but...one thing I know for sure Tyreek is very loved.

UMKC Art Department

This glimpse into this artist community was intriguing, knowing very little about the personality of this place.

KCAI

Because I am so connected to this community of people, the ability to be anonymous in this project was a challenge.

39th and Troost: Bus Depot

The day after I "planted" this location at the bus depot, I went to check on the box...sadly it was gone...but of course I did not have permission to put it there so I expected some loss of materials during this project.

Loose Park

Loose Park was one of the fasted locations to fill up. With this location I believe that the question prompts were used up and not put back in the box, or simply disappeared.

Swope Park

It seems as if a group of young boys filled up the camera before many others could participate. One day when checking on the box, I pulled up to the main pavilion where it was stationed and there was a group of men sitting in the entry way. Though I want to be anonymous to the external community with this piece, they asked me to have a conversation with them. I explained what to do with the box and where I came from and they seemed very interested in it. Most of the questioned filled out were by those men. My favorite part of the whole experience was that they gave me some of the best feedback on the experiment and backed the dissolution of social boundaries that this project hopes to pin-prick.
